Members of Kawagib Moro Human Rights Organization interviewed the wife and daughter of Imam Hakim Hakanul, the religious leader believed to have been forcibly taken by the Philippine Marines to be their guide in finding kidnappers of Fr. Bossi in Al-Barka, Basilan.
The family reported that they found Imam Hakanul’s headless body right after the fight between the Philippine Marines and the MILF. His hands were tied behind his back. The family suspects the military of beheading the imam. One of their neighbors testified to have heard the marines said that they have killed a religious man during the firefight.
Imam Hakim Hakanul iwas 85 years old, had eight children and was a known religious leader in Bgy Guinanta. He was claimed by the Moro National Liberation Front as their former member.
